Mission:

Founded in 1977, CAMBA is a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization with a comprehensive continuum of programs throughout the diverse communities of the borough and city. Our mission is to provide services which connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life. To achieve CAMBA’s vision in which all Brooklyn youth acquire the skills necessary to successfully transition to adulthood, CAMBA provides thousands of local youths with school-based programs, adolescent pregnancy prevention, substance abuse prevention and treatment, and youth employment programs. CAMBA is currently serving over 30,000 individuals and families annually, including 8,000 youth, at over 40 locations throughout the New York area.

Beacon Community Centers

Description: CAMBA has administered the school based Beacon Community Center at Brooklyn’s P.S. 269 in East Flatbush since 1993 and I.S. 271 in Ocean Hill-Brownsville since 2000. Both Beacon Centers are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings, youth leadership and social services to the school's students, their families, and other neighborhood residents. Activities and services are available after school, evenings and on weekends. The above mentioned Beacon Community Centers currently serve more than 2,400 youth, families and community members.

OASAS

Description: (OASAS) Office of Alcohol & Substance Abuse Services (Funded by New York State) at P.S. 249 in Flatbush Brooklyn began in 2005 and offers at risk youth a structured atmosphere and emphasizes drug prevention, academic skills, recreation and counseling.
The program works with the school’s Beacon after school activities. It is an after school program for children from grades 1 through 5. OASAS at P.S. 249 currently serves 75 youth.

Kids Connection

Description: Kids Connection, which started in 2005, serves elementary school children at P.S. 249 in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The program features supper and socialization, homework help, academic enrichment, conflict resolution, creative arts, athletics, recreation, student government, community circle, and clubs. This program also features a partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance through which the children explore the natural and cultural history of Flatbush and Prospect Park. The Kids Connection currently serves 200 students.

Kids Unlimited

Description: Kids Unlimited after-school program. which started in 2004, serves kindergarten through 5th graders at P.S. 92 in Flatbush, Brooklyn The program offers homework help, academic enrichment, clubs, conflict resolution, project-based activities and creative arts programming. Kids Unlimited currently serves 220 students.

Kids Unite

Description: Kids Unite, which started in 2003, serves students at P.S. 170, an elementary school with children from a mostly immigrant community in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. This program partners with arts and environmentally based organizations such as The Brooklyn Arts Council and The Horticultural Society of New York. Kids Unite offers homework help, conflict resolution and cultural arts activities designed to teach children to think globally and act locally. Kids Unite currently serves 220 students.

CAMBA Kids World

Description: CAMBA Kids World, which was established at East Flatbush, Brooklyn’s Beacon 269 in 2003, offers after-school services to youth Grades 3, 4, and 5. Kids World includes academic enrichment, homework help, recreation, creative arts, conflict resolution, counseling, and club activities. CAMBA Kids World currently serves 160 students.
