Summer Day Camp
Description: The Summer Day Camp is a long-standing tradition and a vital part of the Settlement's programming. The Summer Camp provides approximately 175 children with an array of stimulating educational and recreational activities for seven weeks each summer, in a safe and nurturing environment. The youngsters engage in interactive educational activities that allow them to continue to learn and grow academically during their summer vacation. This helps to prevent summer "learning loss" for those youngsters already struggling academically during the school year. The children build their skills and develop new interests through art projects, sports, games, and field trips to fascinating sites around New York City. The Camp also gives the children the opportunity to form positive relationships with caring adults and older adolescents who serve as mentors and assistant counselors.
