BAM's Department of Education & Humanities consistently brings the most exciting performing arts from around the world to New York City students and teachers. The 2007—2008 season is no exception. Programs such as Generation BAM (grades 8—12) and kaBAM (grades K—8) provide inspiration and curriculum enrichment through the arts and present works of the highest artistic caliber in the areas of dance, theater, film, spoken word, music, and more.

Film Screenings
Description: Note: All films are screened at BAM Rose Cinemas at 10:30am.
Tickets are $6 per film, which includes an in-school, pre-screening preparation workshop, a teacher's study guide, and a post-screening discussion (approx 30—45 minutes).

Live performances
Description: Live performances for elementary, junior high, and high school students. Ticket price (normally between $8 and $10) includes a pre-show preparation workshop for every class attending the performance, a teacher's study guide, and a post-performance discussion.

Residencies and Workshops
Description: Generation BAM (grades 8—12) and kaBAM (grades K—8) residencies and workshops offer students and teachers the opportunity to connect with the world at large and to explore the issues that impact their lives through the arts. Study guides, artist-in-residency, professional development, and free after-school programs are all tailored to meet city and state learning standards as part of BAM's continuing mission to support the integration of the arts into the school curriculum.

Special Programs
Description: In addition to the ongoing Education programs for kaBAM, Generation BAM, and family audiences, the Department of Education and Humanities offers a variety of programs for different populations and occasions. These include the DanceAfrica Education program in partnership with the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation; Brooklyn Reads, poetry/spoken word programs for Brooklyn schools; Courtroom Drama/Drawing on Justice, an after school program in theater and visual arts for students interested in these arts disciplines and in learning more about the criminal justice system; a partnership with the Community Roots Charter School; adult master classes; and periodic special events.
