Academics

Description: StreetSquash participants have a varying range of academic aptitude and performance. StreetSquash selects participants based on commitment and effort, rather than on performance. We look to work with students who are diligent and committed to learning and improving.StreetSquash employs tutors for the duration of the school year to ensure consistent high quality academic support. With our staff and volunteer base, StreetSquash students are provided with a two-to-one student-to-tutor ratio at academic sessions.

Squash

Description: Squash is a challenging and fun racket sport played across the world. At StreetSquash, students are introduced to the sport in 7th grade, and work hard to develop as players throughout their years in the program. StreetSquash is committed to each child achieving his or her potential on court at all levels. During the school year, students practice three times a week. Practice sessions are focused on drills, conditioned games, and fitness. StreetSquash’s experienced coaching staff are supported by a committed group of volunteers at every practice session. StreetSquash team members play most matches against other teams between November and March. The New York City area offers plenty of competition. Annual opponents include schools like Brearley, Chapin, Poly Prep (Brooklyn), Pingry (NJ), and Delbarton (NJ).

College Prep

Description: College Prep offers the students S.A.T. preparation, essay writing, and college guidance. Students meet each week for intensive study and practice. StreetSquash administers PSAT and SAT diagnostic tests several times each year so that each student is prepared for the test in Junior and Senior year. StreetSquashers visit colleges across New York State and the northeast. Trips include visits to SUNY schools, New York City colleges, and Intercollegiate Squash Colleges. In addition, college admissions counselors visit with StreetSquashers to provide essential information and guidance throughout the college admissions process.
