NYCSA MEMBER SERVICES
Description: The New York Charter Schools Association (NYCSA) conducts advocacy work primarily at the state government level, including representing member charter schools in the legislature, courts, and the executive branch, including the charter school authorizers. Additionally, NYCSA assists member schools with a wide array of operational issues including technical assistance, governance assistance, performance data analysis, media relations and other areas.
Services to Member Charter Schools
• Legislative bill memos, legislative briefings, research and testimony;
• Regulatory compliance activities, including technical assistance advisories, tracking and updating school policies, and direct advocacy and contacts with authorizers;
• Litigation including ongoing cases challenging excessive and unconstitutional Comptroller audits and extra-legal, high-cost prevailing wage mandates;
• Media relations, including direct contacts with media outlets, letters and op-ed articles, and background information; and
• Support, including help-desk and direct technical assistance.

• Discount fee-for-service work, including governance, compliance, pre-site visit monitoring, charter compliance “gap” analysis, and school data management strategies;
• Updates on legislative activities, including actions on bills affecting charter schools and call-to-action Legislative Alerts, and updates on litigation progress and outcomes.
• Technical Assistance Advisories, and Help-Desk service including strategies for fulfilling regulatory compliance, upcoming due dates, and templates to assist with compliance; and
• Discount fees to the Annual NY Statewide Charter School Conference with the 2009 conference this October 16-17 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in New York City.
