RIOULT Dance Outreach

Description: The core of RIOUTL Outreach program is the assertion that:

• All young people deserve to experience and benefit from exposure to the arts.

• The creative process stimulates higher cognitive thinking and creative problem solving skills.

• The art of dance clearly illustrates how a strict and rigorous discipline results in freedom of thought and ability.

• Artistic choices, careful craft, and structure are behind each seemingly spontaneous performance.

• The language of dance is timeless and universal, and holds a very important place in our collective cultural history.

• DanceREACH programs are designed to fulfill the requirements of the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and the
New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts:

• Explore, create, replicate and observe dance to build technical and artistic skills.

• Develop working knowledge of dance language and aesthetics.

• Make connections by investigating historical, social and cultural contexts, and connecting dance with other disciplines.

• Work with community and cultural resources.

• Explore careers and lifelong learning in dance and dance-related professions.
