Opening Act
At Opening Act, we believe every student deserves a place to shine; we provide the stage. Opening Act’s free, long term, after-school theater programs provide students attending New York City’s most under-served public schools the opportunity to gain confidence, pride, and the knowledge that they can succeed at anything in life.
Opening Act’s voluntary after-school programs meet weekly and span one semester to one year. Each program is based on curricula that incorporate improvisation, acting games and exercises that unleash students’ creativity, foster ensemble work, and develop professional acting technique. Courses work toward creating original productions, entirely conceived, written and performed by the students in a professional theater.

The activities include: art, ballet, baseball, basketball, chess, dance, football, fencing, golf, handball, judo, karate, soccer, tennis, track and more.
