The Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF)
The Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF) was established in 1992 to improve education and enrich the lives of youngsters in New York City public elementary and middle schools, through developing their skills in a wide-range of sports, arts, and educational activities. The activities are offered primarily from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm during the school year, as well as during winter recess and the summer months. The activities include: art, ballet, baseball, basketball, chess, dance, football, fencing, golf, handball, judo, karate, soccer, tennis, track and more. During these critical years of a child's development, our programs lay a good foundation for academic success by building self-esteem and self-discipline and by enriching their scholastic environments.

Rocking the Boat
Rocking the Boat is a boatbuilding and on-water education program based out of the southwest Bronx, New York City. Through a hands-on alternative approach to education and youth development, Rocking the Boat addresses the need for inner city youth to achieve practical and tangible goals, relevant to both everyday life and future aspirations. This process allows high school students to acquire practical, academic, and social skills. Rocking the Boat runs programming in both boatbuilding and environmental science, coordinating three after school and summer programs in each discipline annually, working directly with over 150 students, all of whom receive high school credit. During the process of building a traditional wooden boat, Rocking the Boat students create something not only beautiful, but practical in their own lives, bridging urban and natural life within their neighborhoods. This approach is mirrored in the on-water education program through direct focus on Bronx River habitat monitoring and restoration and through maritime life skills programming. Both programs allow students opportunities to gain a deeper awareness of their own abilities and possibilities in the natural and urban world.

Founded in September 1999, StreetSquash is an after-school youth enrichment program that combines academic tutoring with squash instruction, community service, and one-on-one mentoring.

LINCOLN SQUARE NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER
The vision that shaped Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center in 1949 also shaped the Settlement House movement begun over 100 years ago. Throughout this city, neighbors stood up and took responsibility for each other, working cooperatively to build networks or services to support and empower all who lived there. The result was a groundswell of neighborhoods where people could live safely, nurture their children, and participate in their own success. With an eye on this vision, we at Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center have for over 57 years pursued our Mission of meeting the social, educational, recreational and cultural needs of the people of the West Side, particularly the residents of the Amsterdam Houses and the Addition which comprises 14 buildings spanning from 61st to 65th Streets and Amsterdam to West End Avenues. We accomplish this by meeting the emerging needs of our neighborhood by delivering programs and services to the over 2,700 individuals and 1,250 families-from pre-schoolers to seniors-who live and work in this community.
