Description: This is a VOLUNTEER POSITION for a non-profit organization.

The LEAGUE is a national, web and school based nonprofit with (6) satellite offices. As a volunteer for The LEAGUE, you would support the expansion of our program in NYC schools.

You would gain experience with providing the following services:

* Training to LEAGUE teacher ‘Coaches’ in New York Public Schools (K-12) on how to engage students in the development and execution of service projects, the incorporation of service-learning curriculum, and developing relationships with local businesses and community based organizations.

* Providing ongoing support to LEAGUE Coaches in schools with resources such as LEAGUE materials for service projects, LEAGUE curriculum by Learning To Give, funding resources and connections to local community based organizations and city-wide service projects.

As a Volunteer, you would provide ongoing support throughout the year to these teacher ‘Coaches’ to enable them to effectively engage youth in the planning, organizing, and reflecting exercises associated with community social activism.

By offering teacher-friendly lessons that are free and accessible, you will help teachers prepare students for The LEAGUE events that build skills of leadership and good character, plus also meet specific academic standards.

Through the training and ongoing support, you will build the necessary infrastructure for schools to address local community issues and needs, plus engage youth so that they can succeed academically.

Additional qualifications: There are no required qualifications for this position. The ideal applicant would have prior training experience and/or spent some time in schools as a teacher, administrator or other faculty.
