Description: SEEKING TEACHER LEADERS and BIZ-OPS DIRECTOR FOR FOUNDING LEADERSHIP TEAM OF A HIGHLY INNOVATIVE NEW CHARTER SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN

Are you an experienced teacher and/or administrator who dreams of a profession transformed and schools re-imagined? Do you love students and teaching? Do you have what it takes to lead an entire school from your classroom? Are you a social entrepreneur? Do you believe schools should be fun, empowering learning communities for students AND teachers? Do you believe that teachers are capable of managing their own profession just like lawyers and doctors do?

If your answer is yes to these questions, then we are looking for you to join our movement today. The Board Trustees and Founder of Teaching Firms of America's Professional Preparatory Charter School (TFOA), are seeking several dynamic, entrepreneurial and highly successful experienced teachers (or as we call them, “Social Edu-preneurs”), who are interested in joining our effort to open the first of a new and transformative elementary school model called the “Teaching Firm”. Scheduled to open in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn in August 2011, the Teaching Firm will be the first teacher-led charter school of its kind, a model that uses TFOA’s unique and proprietary management structure, one similar to those used by law firms, medical practices, consulting firms, etc. (a hybrid of the nonprofit and professional-partnership management models). The result will be the realization of a new vision for the teaching profession and schools who serve those most in need of the highest quality education—a professional community where success and advancement does not mean one must leave the classroom; a school where teachers lead and manage the administration (not the other way around); a profession where teachers gain autonomy, prestige and high compensation, and students finally get educators who are unafraid to hold themselves 100% accountable for providing high quality instruction right from the start.

Having recently been granted our charter, TFOA is now seeking to bring together its Founding Leadership Team which will be comprised of several dynamic and entrepreneurial educators and a highly adept school finance and operations professional with the skills sets outlined below to immediately join our effort to execute on the mission, vision and education plan outlined in our charter and prepare our school to open in August 2011. It is our desire to assemble the initial teacher-school leadership team (who we call “Partners”), the director of school operations and finance (who we call the "Executive Officer"), as well as potential core members of the teaching-professional staff (“Senior Associates”), as soon as possible—we believe that such an approach will truly foster the kind of professional ownership and buy-in from its leaders so critical to the success of great charter schools.

Co-Founders Sought:

• The Pedagogy Partner: a classroom teacher with no less than 6 years of experience teaching, curriculum planning, developing, analyzing and evaluating assessments and related data, and leading/directing teacher professional development efforts.
