CCYNC enrollees will be connected to the world of mathematics through multiple venues that are familiar, relevant and pertinent. CCYMC plans to beat back the phobia that hampers student performance. We intend to instill a love for numeracy and quantitative analysis that will allow students to successfully embrace a global community.

We would like to extend an invitation to middle school and high school students throughout New York’s five boroughs to attend Riverbank State Park’s Annual College Fair on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Representatives from colleges will be on hand to help students and parents learn about their options. Workshops will be available on a variety of topics, such as choosing a college, scholarships, financial aid, and other pertinent issues and information for parents and students alike. This is a free indoor event. No pre-registration is required.

Eliminating Bullying Workshop

Building on last year's eliminating bullying workshop, this interactive workshop for teachers and administrators will deeper participants' understanding of how to create safe and supportive schools for all students. Facilitators: Morningside Center staff developers Nelly Espina and Tolonda Tolbert. Workshop participants will:

distinguish bullying behavior from other kinds of negative behavior;

discuss their experiences with bullying and efforts to counter it both in person and in cyberspace;

explore how cyberbullying operates differently than the traditional bullying dynamic;
