On Saturday, March 6th, the LinkEd team headed over to the Hilton New York Hotel to attend the 5th annual Celebration of Teaching & Learning, the nation's premiere professional development conference for educators. Over 8,500 educators from across the country attended this year - wow!
The highlights of the day were Marc Brackett's workshop on emotional literacy in schools, watching Bobby McFerrin perform (amazing!), and watching Queen Latifah moderate a panel of high school students. We also enjoyed walking through the exhibitor hall and talking with all the different education vendors. The exhibitor hall had everything from SmartBoard karaoke to live reptiles to free giveaways.
A low point of the day was a panel on teacher quality and evaluation. Expecting a lively debate that included Randi Weingarten and Linda Darling-Hammond, we were disappointed to find that both women had backed out of participating at the last minute. The panel combined with the warmth of the room had multiple people in the audience falling asleep.
Check out some photos from the day!

Bobby McFerrin got the audience to sing with him in his performance, which was done entirely a cappella.
