A billion pennies in Harlem

Steve Bergen, a teacher at The Children's Storefront School in Harlem, came up with a new way to teach his students about the large numbers associated with the stimulus package. It is hard for both children and adults alike to understand what a Billion and Trillion dollars actually looks like. To help the kids understand what a billion actually is (and to raise money for their private school that does not charge tuition and has a majority of their students coming from low income families), Bergen is having his students collect 1 billion pennies.
