By selectively filtering their Events calendar (using such options as Education or Kids -- you can even filter by Only Free Events), you can find an array of free and low-cost events taking place in and near NYC parks.
On your way to visit nature, do you want to find a nearby playground? It’s your lucky day! KaBOOM!, the playground advocacy group, has an excellent map mash-up offering crowd-sourced (read: added by users in the community -- like you!) playground sites. It even has a smartphone app (for iOS or Android) that lets you find playgrounds in your immediate area.
