Sweet Potatoes: A Fall Treat

September 25, 2011, 11:31 pm

At Red Rabbit, we believe good nutrition is essential to a child’s growth, health, and happiness. We work hard every day to introduce farm-fresh and organic foods to kid’s diets - and peace of mind to schools and parents! Red Rabbit would like to help the parents of LinkEducation integrate delicious, healthy eating into the lives of their families. We hope you find these simple tips on how to stay healthy this school year both informative and inspiring!

Sweet Potatoes: A Fall Treat

Kids (and adults alike!) love sweets. Nature dishes up some pretty neat sweet treats that will keep us far from those vending machines. When we think of nature's candy, fruit often comes to mind. There are veggies available in the Fall, however, that boast a deep, sweet flavor as well.....like sweet potatoes!

Similar to other orange and red produce (i.e. tomatoes and watermelons), sweet potatoes are known for the power antioxidant beta-carotene and, unlike other bright orange 'foods' (Ahem! Certain chips and pastas we won't name), are full of vitamins and fiber to keep us healthy and full.

Try some baked sweet potato slices instead of the usual french fry. Healthy french fries? I thought you’d never ask...
